Newcastle United have signed 18-year-old Guinea international midfielder Ousmane Diabaté. The Premier League club confirmed the deal on Tuesday, with the player set to return to Gençlerbirliği on loan for the 2026/27 season.
Diabaté made seven senior appearances across the Süper Lig and Turkish Cup during his time in Turkey, gaining valuable experience before his international debut for Guinea in a friendly against Northern Ireland at Windsor Park in June. His progression through Guinea’s youth system and early senior exposure in Turkey aligns with Newcastle’s strategy of identifying young talent with high potential.
Ross Wilson, Newcastle United’s Sporting Director, said: "We're very pleased to welcome Ousmane to Newcastle United."
Ousmane Diabaté added: "From the moment Newcastle showed interest, I knew it was the kind of ambitious club I wanted to be part of."
The signing comes as Newcastle United sit 6th in the Premier League with 4 points from two games, recording a win, a draw and a loss to date. Their recent form reads W-D-L, and they have scored four goals while conceding two, leaving them just two points behind league leaders Manchester City. The club’s next fixture is a home match against Bournemouth on 2026-09-05, with Dan Burn, Joelinton and William Osula currently sidelined through injury.
Newcastle United announced the transfer via their official website, with further details expected to be released ahead of the upcoming fixtures. Fans can stay updated on squad developments through the squad page and track the team’s progress in the league via the standings section.
