Former Newcastle United defender Titus Bramble has been appointed assistant coach of the Pakistan men's national team. He will work under head coach Nobby Solano, another ex-Magpies star, in a reunion of two former St James' Park teammates.
The Pakistan Football Federation confirmed the appointment this week, posting a welcome message on its official Instagram page. "From Premier League battles to the Pakistan touchline," the statement began. It described Bramble as bringing "valuable experience from the highest level of English football" to the national setup.
Solano, who took charge of Pakistan in July 2025, has moved to strengthen his backroom staff ahead of upcoming challenges. The team is preparing for the FIFA ASEAN Cup and working towards future Asian Cup qualification campaigns.
Bramble made 156 appearances for Newcastle after joining from Ipswich Town in 2002. The centre-back spent five years with the club before moving to Wigan Athletic and later Sunderland, amassing over 200 Premier League appearances in his career.
In an interview last year, Solano outlined his ambitions for the Pakistan side. "My first step is that we have to be competitive," he said. "We will try to be very competitive. We have to face every challenge in front of us."
The Peruvian legend has previously coached in his home country, Canada, Sweden and with non-league side Blyth Spartans. Pakistan failed to qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup, collecting just two points from six matches in their qualifying group.
Bramble's new role marks his first official coaching position at international level. The appointment was announced on Tuesday. You can keep track of all Newcastle United's former players and their career moves in our dedicated squad section.
