De Zerbi explained the situation before kick-off. "There was bad news yesterday, before training in the afternoon," the coach said. "He suffered muscle fatigue and the medical staff didn't want to take a risk. I agree with them."
Jaissle backs new signing González
Meanwhile, Newcastle United head coach Matthias Jaissle expressed confidence in new midfielder Nico González. The 24-year-old Spaniard completed a move from Manchester City this week in a deal that could eventually be worth £52 million and is in line to make his debut.
